When Philadelphia’s baseball team debuted its original mascots—a brother-sister pair straight out of the 18th century, they were kind of a snooze fest. To spice things up, the Phillies commissioned puppet masters Wade and Bonnie Erickson to work with Jim Henson and come up with a mascot befitting the city. The result? The energetic, unpredictable green Phanatic.
